Scouts ACT – Reach for the Stars

Reach for the Stars badgeWatch this Space (haha!) as Les Explorateurs Scout Group work together with astronomers from the Mount Stromlo Observatory to develop a program of astronomy activities for Scouts to celebrate the International Year of Light in 2015!

This will culminate in a special Scouts astronomy night during National Science Week on Saturday 15 August 2015 for Scouts Australia (ACT Branch) members and their families at Mount Stromlo Observatory.

The response has been overwhelming with registrations now closed, as we have reached venue capacity. There are no more tickets available.

  • A series of kid-friendly astronomy talks (meteorites, aliens, lasers and more)
  • A limited edition Reach for the Stars badge for the first 1000 Scouts Australia and Guiding Australia members who attend on the night (remember to bring along your Eventbrite registration to swap for your badge).
  • Star gazing outside using telescopes, if weather permits
  • Program materials to facilitate additional sessions during weekly scout section meetings before and after the National Science Week event. Available for download here: Scouts ACT – Reach for the Stars support material package.
